I’ve decided I will probably run in the Dogwood Arts run. You can view it here. I’m really excited! I know that all of your training is going well. We announced a winner of a prize last week. I hope to draw another name soon.
It’s been so good to go through this drill, if you will. I am learning so much about my limitations. I think this is a great place to be in. As my son continues to be more active I am needing to scale back on things like running. Most of my workouts are done while I’m teaching, which if you are an instructor you know aren’t as intense as it would be if I were doing it on my own.
Thanks for reading. Many blessings to you!

First, Congratulations to Leslie of Newport, AL! She won an $80 gift certificate to New Balance of Knoxville.
I ran last week as well as lifted and general aerobics. Actually, my trainings have focused mostly on a new certification I received called BODYSTEPtm. Bstep is an intense aerobic power step class that is part of the Les Mills Body training programs. From all of the power training I’ve been doing, which I’ll tell you about soon, I feel like I could run straight up hill for a few miles!
I will be finding my 5k-10k to run shortly and will give you information about the event once I find the one I’d like to do. We are half way there! I intentionally did not start the book Are You Fit for Life? because we will be launching another training program in April and I wanted to wait until then.
Mark Altrogge recently wrote a post that encouraged me and reminded me to be thankful. I am so thankful that I can enjoy and be with my family, church, aerobics folks and above all I have Christ too!
Happy Training!

What a busy training week this has been. In the midst of a busy week I have picked up a new book, thanks to a friend, called Marathoning for Mortals: A Regular Person’s Guide to the Joy of Running or Walking a Half-Marathon or Marathon by John “The Penguin” Bingham. I think what I like most about this book is that he starts with the reader evaluating and taking an honest look at where he/she is before starting to train. I think setting goals that are not too ambitious yet not too low helps. Along with those tidbits I also found this quote helpful:
“Robert Pirsig wrote that mountains should be climbed at a pace in between exhaustion and boredom. If you climb too slowly, you find yourself getting bored with the pace and the activity. If you climb too quickly, you find yourself so winded that you can’t enjoy the beauty of the experience. The same is true for your training program. You should find the place in between boredom and exhaustion, ” (p. 20).
For many of you, and me at times, boredom comes pretty easy! I have found that after my first two miles I finally get into the groove and I’m no longer feeling like I am muddling through. I haven’t had a really long run yet but that is my next goal this week! I’ll let you know whether or not I took his advice or if I over exerted myself to exhaustion.
CONGRATLATIONS to Janet of Gaithersburg, Maryland for winning my CD In His Strength. I new prize winner will be announced soon!
Happy Training,
Trillia

First, please forgive me for the late update! I have had a busy weekend and was unable to get to the computer until today, Monday. Instead of listing each days workout like usual I’ll just say it was another week of weights and high energy cardio, pilates, but no running. Tomorrow I plan to have a long run. I have been really pushing my cardio just in different ways. I look forward to sharing with you some exercises you can do at home that will blast you into cardiovascular shape.
If I don’t run tomorrow I owe you push ups!
Next Drawing Winner!
We have another winner but I haven’t had a chance to notify them yet. After I confirm that they will be able to receive their prize I’ll announce it publicly!
I hope you have a wonderful time of training and I pray God blesses your spiritual disciplines this week!
1Timothy 4: 7-10
7 Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; 8 for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. 9 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. 10 For to this end we toil and strive, [2] because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.

Congratulations to Casey of Knoxville, TN! Casey won our first prize, a signed copy of The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment by Tim Challies.

This has been a week of cross training and not too much running. I will hopefully pick up my running this coming week. Due to my schedule conflicts it may look like I’ll be training for a 10 k instead of the half-marathon.
Saturday- one hour of weight training
Sunday- rest
Monday- Spinning (I forgot to look at the miles! but I did it for 45 minutes)
Tuesday- I would normally run but we had a freeze so I couldn’t get out in the morning. I took a step aerobics class called Body Step later that afternoon which was a wonderful cardio workout.
Wednesday- one hour weight training
Thursday- one hour weight training and one hour dance aerobics and teaching
Friday- 55 minutes of combat or kickboxing training and 20 minutes of aerobics
Though I wasn’t able to run I was able to get quite a bit of cardio workouts in. I think the variations were good for me to see how I am doing in general. I look forward to getting a run in this week. Our weather has been a bit cold (not compared to Canada’s negative 20!) so I haven’t been up for running outside yet. It will be interesting to see the weight difference now that my son weighs a little more when I pull out the jogging stroller. I am sure pushing him will be a great training for hills.
Hope you are well. I’ll be announcing the next prize winner soon!

I am happy to report that overall my little family is sick free. Thank you Lord! Still training was difficult because of unexpected needs from family, that were worth sacrificing running for, and errands. I do believe that my endurance training is becoming much easier even with the little bit of cardio (running, walking, spinning, generally aerobics) that I have been doing. It doesn’t seem to take much to get back into shape (I was not “out of shape” but out of running shape!). With that said, I hope that if you are just beginning or if you have not started- no fear- begin slowly and you’ll surely begin to see results!
Saturday- I ran 2 miles, one at a moderate pace and one quickly
Sunday- rest
Monday- Spin- 8 miles. We worked mainly on endurance
Tuesday- 3 miles, running and walking the hills. You can get a glimpse of this workout by clicking here.
Wednesday- I had intended on running but did not end up getting to go in the morning and then I watched my niece for my sister in the afternoon unexpectedly so I was unable to go.
Thursday- I lifted for 1 hour (I teach BodyPumptm) and then I taught at a dance studio for about 1.5 hours dancing most of the time and stretching for about 20 minutes
Friday- Another day of errands. I worked on our taxes, had a playdate and lunch with a friend and then went to the doctor for a checkup.
FYI- most nights I will not be going to the gym because I want to be home with my hubby (unless we both go). I tend to go in between the hours of 8 am-11 am.
I hope that you are enjoying your training! I sent all of the participants an email last night informing them of the prizes. On Monday I hope to post for everyone to see a detailed list of the first round of prizes.
God Bless!

This week has been a little tough. My entire family came down with colds so I haven’t really been able to run much but here is what I have done. FYI- I will share from Saturday to the next Friday each week.
Saturday- ran 2 miles on a treadmill
Sunday- rest
Monday- biked 8 miles on a stationary bike (it was actually my spin class I teach so it worked out well. This is what I’ll probably do every Monday)
Tuesday- sick and didn’t get out of my pajamas. My son and I slept all day.
Wednesday- lifted for about a half hour or so but no cardio. Still trying to get better
Thursday- lifted for one hour but no cardio
Friday- So far I have not had a chance to run/exercise which probably means I won’t for today
I started reading through the Bible in a year plan which has taken up most of my reading time. My desire for 2008 is to meditate on His Word day and night so I am approaching my reading time a little different than I have in the past. I read in the morning. Read something in the afternoon, if even for 5 minutes, and then read before bed. This usually works out well. Tuesday I just slept. :)
Hope your training is going well!
