I realized that I was behind in my journal entries! I have been running on Tuesdays and cross training most other days. I think I will be able to successfully run a 5k but that depends most on my knee. I have recently injured my knee. I think it’s more just over use. Many of the ladies in my gym recommended me taking glucosamine.
I don’t take supplements or pills much so I wasn’t really sure what it was, but when I looked it up and spoke with a pharmacist it sounded like it could be beneficial. Just last night I started taking Osteo Bi-Flex. I don’t know much about this product and I haven’t spoken with my doctor about it so I can’t recommend it but from what it looks like it’s just a supplement to help rebuild cartilage and protect joints. I’ll keep you updated as I learn more. I hope to feature a doctor on here soon to answer some questions about joint pain and foot problems.
One more thing, I’m not even sure if it’s my cartilage or if it’s a ligament problem! I like to self diagnose. I’m kidding. I will say that today when I was teaching Body Pump (a weight lifting class utilizing a barbell) my knee did great. Please pray for me if you think of it.
Until next time….

I’ve decided I will probably run in the Dogwood Arts run. You can view it here. I’m really excited! I know that all of your training is going well. We announced a winner of a prize last week. I hope to draw another name soon.
It’s been so good to go through this drill, if you will. I am learning so much about my limitations. I think this is a great place to be in. As my son continues to be more active I am needing to scale back on things like running. Most of my workouts are done while I’m teaching, which if you are an instructor you know aren’t as intense as it would be if I were doing it on my own.
Thanks for reading. Many blessings to you!

First, Congratulations to Leslie of Newport, AL! She won an $80 gift certificate to New Balance of Knoxville.
I ran last week as well as lifted and general aerobics. Actually, my trainings have focused mostly on a new certification I received called BODYSTEPtm. Bstep is an intense aerobic power step class that is part of the Les Mills Body training programs. From all of the power training I’ve been doing, which I’ll tell you about soon, I feel like I could run straight up hill for a few miles!
I will be finding my 5k-10k to run shortly and will give you information about the event once I find the one I’d like to do. We are half way there! I intentionally did not start the book Are You Fit for Life? because we will be launching another training program in April and I wanted to wait until then.
Mark Altrogge recently wrote a post that encouraged me and reminded me to be thankful. I am so thankful that I can enjoy and be with my family, church, aerobics folks and above all I have Christ too!
Happy Training!

As you probably know, I am not training to run a half-marathon any longer because I have not been able to squeeze in the time needed to run. But I am still reading and learning about half marathon and full marathon trainings and will be focusing on some specific aspects of training in the coming weeks. One of the most important aspects- food as fuel! But before we talk about food, I do want to tell you how I have been training. I ran last week as well as lifted, and did general cardio. I am working out just about every day but I do not run every day.
I do want to leave you with one little tidbit before I “run” off to my next task: carbohydrates are not only good for you but necessary for the body to function properly and necessary for energy.

Please forgive me for the delay in posting. I have discovered that this particular topic has taken more time to read and learn about than one week allows. I have prayerfully considered what to post and how to post it which also takes time. I am currently learning more about therapy pools and will post all I find out once it’s available.
Later in the month I have the privilege and honor of introducing you to a new friend who knows all to well about the sufferings of chronic pain and fatigue. I look forward to sharing with you her testimony and hope that it builds your faith as you walk through your particular circumstances.
God bless all of you!
More soon…

This has been a week of major training but again another cross training week. With that said, I don’t think I’ve ever trained quite as hard has I have a few days this week. I got certified last weekend in a program called Body Steptm which is a high intensity (optional), high power, step aerobic class by Les Mills. The training involved many plyometric moves. I was excited to be introduced to many of these exercises and hope to share a post about these soon.
I did run but not on Tuesday so I did give you push ups. Actually this was another week of sickness as well. I am just getting off antibiotics for possibly strep or a sinus infection and my lovely son has been sick too but thankfully not as bad as last time. When Weston is sick I need to stay home to care for him so I don’t get to go to gym but my wonderful husband watched him a few times so I could get a little exercise in.
Thank you to all of the runners who have written in to let me know how their training is going! I love hearing about all the different goals out there. One man, Casey, is logging his mileage week by week. So for example one week he might run 17 miles that week! Way to go Casey!
On Monday I’ll announce our second prize winner!
Thank you so much for participating, cheering us on and praying for each other. My prayer is that you would enjoy God’s amazing grace this week!

In a few weeks In His Strength will be available for purchase! I am very excited about the CD. Josh “deejay essence” Wann has been working hard to remix ten songs from the music of Sovereign Grace Ministries. I look forward to introducing you to him a little later and sharing more about the songs, Sovereign Grace Music and In His Strength. Today I wanted to share a little about aerobics music in general. If you are not an aerobics instructor, personal trainer or in the fitness industry you might be wondering what makes In His Strength different from every other remixed CD. The answer is quite simple, for an aerobics instructor everything is different.
Professionally produced aerobics music is designed so that the musical phrasing consists of 4 sets of 8, or 32 beats of music and does not include bridges or other musical breaks. The music is usually continuous with only a fade out from one song to the next. In His Strength is designed specifically for step aerobics, conditioning and strength classes. The beats per minute (bmp) indicate the tempo and allows the instructor to know which speed he or she will be teaching in and assists instructors in the class format.
So back to the answer, to an instructor everything is different, but to those of you who are not instructors, the biggest difference is that the CD’s are usually compilations and remixed. In His Strength is a compilation of remixed Sovereign Grace songs, formatted for aerobics instructors but useful for anyone who would like to listen to or workout to upbeat Christian music.
